THE EUROPEAN BUSINESS CLUB IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Russia has always featured prominently in the European Union's long-term planning. Today the EU considers the main challenges in this area to be: cooperation in strengthening Russian democracy and the rule of law, creation of a solid foundation for economic growth, support for civil society, cooperation with the Russian Federation in providing stability and security in Europe and the rest of the world, resolution of common issues concerning environmental protection, guaranteeing of nuclear safety, and the struggle against international crime.

A good relationship between the EU and Russia is one of the fundamental factors for providing peace and stability on the European Continent. A basic way to achieve this is through cooperation in widening bilateral trade and increasing investment in Russia, with potential for eventually establishing a free trade zone.

Given these objectives, the European Business Club in the Russian Federation (EBC) was founded in Summer 1995 on the initiative of several European companies registered in Moscow, the Ambassadors of EU member countries and the Head of Representation of the European Commission in the RF. The EBC currently represents and protects the interests of more than 400 companies from the 15 EU member countries.
