Concept of the International Economic Forum «Kuban-2003»

The motto of the Forum: «Krasnodar Krai - Investment Gateway to Russia»

The Second International Economic Forum «Kuban-2003» will be held from 9 to 12 October 2003. The Forum is held under the auspices of the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation and supported by the Government of the Russian Federation, State Duma of the Russian Federation and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

The Forum major objective is -

• Discuss issues of investment development of regions and international cooperation, conditions for economic growth at the regional and municipal levels;
• Share experience in reforms of the branches of industry, agro-industrial complex, resort complex, development of land markets and perspectives for investors;
• Discuss the role of the Russian regions in the strengthening of the image of Russia in the world arena.

The forum will act as an effective tool for positioning of Russia at the world investment markets and promotion of interests of the regions at the Federal level.

The Forum participants will include deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, heads and key officials of Ministries and departments, representatives of major international financial institutions and international organizations, high-rank officials of the Embassies and Trade representations of foreign states in Russia, heads of the Russian regions and municipalities, Russian and international companies interested in business and investment cooperation with Krasnodar Krai and other Russian regions.

The Forum will be held in the form of plenary sessions, «round-tables», exhibitions and presentations of investment projects and territories, business meetings and negotiations.

The Forum program envisages field sessions (sessions held away from the normal location) on:

1. Small Business - Committee on Economic Policy and Entrepreneurship of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
2. Session of the Council of «Severny Kazkaz» (Northern Caucasus) Association with participation of the Presidents of the Republics and Heads of the territorial subjects of the Southern Federal Okrug.
3. Session of the European Business Club and opening of the 1^st regional representative office (Krasnodar Krai) of the EBC in Russia.
4. The Days of Fundamental Science in Kuban will be held in the framework of the 2-nd International Economic Forum «Kuban-2003»
   • The All-Russia Scientific & Practical Conference of grant holders of the competition of the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research and Krasnodar Krai Administration «r2003yug»; and
   • The All-Russia Scientific & Practical Conference of young scientists - grant holders of Krasnodar Krai Administration awards; and
   • The All-Russia Scientific & Practical Conference of grant holders of the competition of the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation and Krasnodar Krai Administration «Northern Caucasus: Traditions and the Present»
   • International seminar-conference «Ionic Chromatography, Elemental Analysis»

The final proposals that will be developed during the Forum discussions will be summarized and submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation, State Duma of the Russian Federation, Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, relevant Ministries and department for further consideration and implementation.
