On October 17th, 1993 according to the results of the investment project competition FTR Holding S.A., an affiliate of Philip Morris International acquired the control share of OAO «Krasnodartabakprom», renamed in 2000 into OAO «Philip Morris Kuban».
In 1993 Philip Morris International started a program of reconstruction and development of Krasnodar Tobacco Factory. To date completed and committed investments in capital improvements in the factory exceed 200 million US dollars.
Simultaneously the factory production capacity was growing rapidly: since 1994 annual production volume has increased in more that 9 times and was 33 bio cigarettes in 2002. OAO «Philip Morris Kuban» employs over 1000 people. This successful progress is much due to the favorable investment climate in the Krasnodar region.
Today, OAO Philip Morris Kuban is one of the largest enterprises and taxpayers of the Krasnodar Region. In 2002, the company paid 2 billion 129 million rubles in taxes to all budget levels.
While contributing to the regional economy, OAO «Philip Morris Kuban» goes beyond pure business activity. The factory implements a number of charitable programs in social sphere, supports educational and cultural programs. Youth smoking prevention is also one of the main concerns of the company.
