In 2003 the external trade turnover of the Region was 2,4 billion US dollars (92,7% from foreign countries and 7,25% - from CIS). Main external trade partners of the Region are Italy, Turkey, France, Germany, Spain, and USA. The most active relations are maintained with Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Export to foreign countries reached 1.45 and 0.1 billion US dollars in 2003. Main commodities exported from the Region are: mineral goods, food products, metal, sugar, tobacco goods, and grain.
In 2003 the amount of import reached 827,3 mln $ US (from foreign countries - 735,9 mln $ US; from CIS - 91,4 mln $ US.). Main commodities imported to the Region:, machine building goods, raw sugar, fertilizers and chemical plant protection means, agricultural equipment, citrus fruit, oil products and medical drugs. Бgoods are mostly imported from Ukraine, Germany, Italy, France, Turkey and Sweden.
EXTERNAL ECONOMIC RELATIONS OF KRASNODAR REGION
Krasnodar Region is leading an active external policy.
In 2003 Krasnodar Region has been visited by over 40 foreign delegations from over foreign countries and CIS: Aphasia (Republic of Georgia), Austria, Armenia, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Italy, Canada, Luxembourg, Moldova, Holland, Norway, Serbia and Chernogoria, Ukraine, Finland, France, Switzerland, and Estonia. The most often delegations were from Germany, France, Switzerland, and Ukraine.
Managers and specialists of the Administration participated in accepting guests of very high level: in the beginning of the year the President of Armenia Robert Kocharian visited the Region, and later in the year Ambassadors of Belgium, the Netherlands, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Republic of Serbia and Chernogoria, Republic of Moldova, Switzerland, Ukraine, and Estonia visited the Region.
The Region was visited by delegations of Senators of Republic of France, delegations of trade representatives of EU countries, of American Trade Mission (American Chamber of Commerce in Russia), directors of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRR). With assistance and participation of specialists of the Department of economic development two session of the Coordination Committee of the European Business Club (EBC) were held.
In April 2003 the Memorandum on Mutual Understanding has been signed between the Department of Agriculture and Supplies of Krasnodar Region and Agricultural Council of Denmark and the Embassy of Denmark in Russian Federation. In December the delegation of Krasnodar Region headed by the Head of Administration of the Region A.N. Tkachev visited the Kingdom of Denmark. In Copenhagen the Protocol on the enlargement of cooperation in the agro-industrial complex between the Administration of Krasnodar Region and the Agricultural Council of Denmark has been signed.
It should be specially underlined that regular meetings of the management and specialists of the Department were held with representatives of investing companies, among them such well known in the world companies can be mentioned as the French Company Bonduel, German companies KLAAS and KNAUF, Swiss Nestle, etc. Results of the activities of the above companies can be already seen - on June 3,2004 the first brick was laid into the foundation of the plant for processing vegetables by COMPANY Bonduel; on October 31 the ceremony of laying the foundation of the future plant of agricultural machinery of Company KLAAS was held; the assembling of new production lines is being conducted at the enterprise of JSC «Khladoprodukt» and also in Timashevsk City where the realization of the Project of construction of the plant for coffee processing of company NESTLE-KUBAN is under way.
In 2004 delegations of the Administration and enterprises of Krasnodar Region participated in the International Exhibition of the Complex «Green Land» (Berlin, Germany), in the Exhibition of Commercial Real Estate «MIPIM»(Cannes, France), and also in the 8th International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg (Russia), etc.
The Administration of Krasnodar Region itself became the organizer of some events, such as: Presentation of Krasnodar Region at the press center of MFA in Moscow, «Days of Krasnodar Region in Germany » (Hanover), Festival of mass media in Sochi.
